On 14 December 2007, it was confirmed that Heikki Kovalainen will drive the second car for McLaren Mercedes for the 2008 Formula One season alongside Hamilton. McLaren's 2008 Title contender, the MP4-23, was launched on the 7th January 2008 at an Official Launch party in Stuttgart, Germany

McLaren, founded in 1963 by New Zealander Bruce McLaren (1937–1970), is a Formula 1 team based in Woking, Surrey, UK. McLaren is best known as a Formula One constructor but has also competed in the Indianapolis 500-Mile Race, Canadian-American Challenge Cup and 24 Hours of Le Mans races.
