R4E vs Competition

Friday, March 28th, 2008

As such Rivals4Ever does not have any head to head competition right now but there are few sites which are nearly trying to achieve what we are.

Those sites are:

1) blubet.com
2) productclash.com
3) ibeatyou.com
4) mymuv.com
5) versus.bix.yahoo.com

Following is the competition chart which is showing number of visitors to each site. We are no where here as blubet has more than a million users right now.  But I am sure we are surpassing the red line soon :)

The little green spike around Dec 07 is due to this article of TechCrunch about ProductClash. We have not been lucky so far in case of such spike but we did get a small one when mashable and few other blogs covered us.

Anyways we will be there shortly and will have the Techcrunch Effect :)

Keep Fighting till then,
Abhishek

We are facing downtime issues!

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

Hello All,
Our hosting provider MediaTemple (mt) is giving us hardtime right now and due to that we are R4E is going down several times today. Please bare bear with us for sometime. We can not believe that (mt), which is hosting sites like techcrunch.com and mashable.com can go down like this. May be it is just the grid server which is going down.

PS: please don’t create Rivalries which can hurt religious sentiments of people. Let’s keep R4E a clean place where healthy rivalries take place.

Thank you for your support.

Rivals4Ever.com - The Story

Saturday, December 15th, 2007

Dear All,
Thank you for visiting this blog. It is a pleasure to welcome you all on this blog which is dedicated to www.rivals4ever.com, a place where your passion is recognized and respected.

If you have few minutes I would like to tell you how this idea was originated.

I was watching a movie “Fever Pitch” starring Drew Barrymore and Jimmy Fallon on star movies few months back with my wife. It is a love story revolving around rivalry between Boston Red Sox vs New York Yankees in baseball. For those of you who are not from US, it is one of the biggest rivalry in any sports. You can get more details about the rivalry from this wikipedia page.

I got so engrossed in the movie that I dreamed about it whole night literally and you know what is the first thing I told my wife on the next day morning (yes the first thing) “I have an idea, why don’t we create a site where people can come and create their own rivalries.” . My wife gave me cold response of course as she was still asleep and told me “abhi, you have gone mad.” :)
Well, so this is how it all started and then I discussed the idea with my friends who are also my business partners at www.digi-corp.com and they all liked the idea (or I think they did not want to disappoint me at that time). After that we started executing the plan and decided to start building facebook application for this as it was more suitable to have such application over Facebook. Facebook applications can become viral easily and one can have large number of users in short time. Plus it was new and upcoming market in which we wanted to jump in.

We submitted the idea to Techcrunch40 but could not make it to the finals. Then we submitted the idea to LeWeb3 and got the confirmation of selection in First 50 companies but finalists were only 30 so still there was a chance of rejection. But this time it clicked and it clicked big time as we were the only Indian company to be selected in final 30 companies to present in Startup competition. Arguably LeWeb3 is the biggest conference of its kind in Europe.

LeWeb3

So we started working day and night but now we needed an independent site also as only facebook application will not work as a finalists company to present. Thanks to our highly talented and committed team of PHP developers we just finished first phase of development before December 11, the day on which we were supposed to launch it at LeWeb3.

We presented our concept on LeWeb3 in a little different type of presentation which was liked by few and disliked by few but we are proud of the way we presented. There was at least dynamism involved in the presentation and it was not boring.

Now we are working on lots of exciting features which will be more engaging for users. We hope you will enjoy the journey of rivals4ever.com with us.

Please let us know what do you think of Rivals4Ever.com as a concept? Comments and criticism both are welcome.

Start the FIRE,
Abhishek
